Ice and Snow Removal Essay Example for Free
Ice and Snow Removal EssayIce so-and-so affect an woodworking planes locomotive engine two ways. First, it burn number in the carburetor of the engine, blocking the travel of the fuel-air mixture through the carb and possibly resulting in engine failure. Second, icing the puck can also form over the air inlets through which the menses of air must flow on its way to the in imbibe system of the advocator plant (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 14). Deep inside of the carb, there is a little passageway through increase in its temperature because the compression physically forces the molecules of the gas closer to separately other. When the compressive force is removed, as it is when the fuel-air mixture travels back into a wide opening of the venturi, the temperature of the gas drops. Cooling occurs because the compressive force has been removed and the molecules spread out hence, molecular performance (heat) declines. A small flapper that controls how much fuel air mixture is allowed to go into the cylinders is placed in or actually near the venturi tube. This flapper device is called a suffocate place. When you push in or pull out the circumscribe control in the cockpit, the action is to move the throttle plate in the carburetor.In turn, the throttle plate is regulating the amount of the fuel-air mixture that is being fed to the intake system of the engine more flow, more power less(prenominal) flow, less power. It plant the same way in a car engine (Andersland and Lad eachi, 2004 p. 242). When the air is cold-bloodeder than freezing, ice loves to form on the edges of hard objects that are placed in the stream of the air laden with water vapor.Moreover, the temperature drop in the carburetor can be as much as 90F and the freezing point of water is 32F, carburetor ice can be a possibility anytime (Lankford, 2000 p. 68) hence, the removal of ice and ascorbic acid is necessary . Discussion Ice Formation and the Processes Involved In understanding the concep ts of ice and snow removal, it is essential to understand the process understructure the rationale of ice com stake in these structures to further comprehend the rationale behind the mechanics of ice and snow removal. Icing on the airframe of an airplane is deadly, although severity cannot be overemphasized (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p. 242). Any accumulation is a situation that must be dealt with quick concern especially is it has been prior to plane functioning.The course of action the pilot takes depends upon many factors, including however certainly not limited to whether the airplane has any ice-protection equipment. usually the water in the air is in a gaseous secernate, and we refer to it as water vapor. Water vapor willing change to the liquid state at a certain temperature (determined by atmospheric conditions) and become visible, and such temperature is considered as the dew point (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 14). When the dew point is lower than the ambient temperature, the vapor remains a gas, and the water molecules may not be evident in the air.When much vapor is contained in the air that the air cannot hold any more, the humidity has reached or very nearly approached the 100% level (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 312). When humidity hits 100 percent, dew point and temperature will be the same, and water vapor will start becoming visible. The formation may evidently become fog, clouds, rain, drizzle, or other forms (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 16). Airplanes can fly just fine through most visible moisture as languish as the temperature at the passage level is strong enough that the water do not freeze.However, when the ambient temperatures are cold enough that the water in the air is already frozen, it generally will not adhere to the airframe hence, structural icing is not generally a problem in those conditions. Water can exist in the liquid state at temperatures below 32F. It is called super cooled water (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 313) . The science behind this phenomenon is complex, and it is essential to understand that super cooled water can be present even though the temperature outside the airplane below freezing.When a droplet of super cooled water hits the airplane, the surface tension on the outside of the droplet breaks (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p. 247). Since the airframe is cold and at or below freezing, if the ambient temperature is likewise, the droplet freezes to the airframe upon impact, and ice forms. Ignore the friction heating that occurs on the leading edges of the airframe, when though the space shuttle gets red sweltering from friction as it reenters the atmosphere, it will not gain any similar effect in a small airplane (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p.246).At speeds faster than near 400 knots, ice seldom adheres to airframes, but does not go that fast either. When your light airplane goes through the applicable atmospheric conditions, ice will form on it (Lankford, 2000 p. 64). Airframe icing can also occur when the clouds or other visible moisture and the surface of the airplane are at a temperature passably warmer than freezing and the water is not super cooled. As water droplets hit the airframe and splatter, they cool slightly (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 16).Expect airframe ice in temperatures as warm as about 3436F. Ice that forms on the structure of the airplane falls into three classifications rime, egest, and mixed. Rime ice is cloudy in mien due primarily to the fact that it contains air entrained within the ice (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 312). Clear ice is smooth and much more transparent than is rime because it has little if any air trapped inside. On the other hand, mixed ice is a combination of rime and clear types. The Dangers of Ice and the Rationale for its RemovalIce and snow removal in air crafts post various risks that may affect the passengers and the crew present especially during flight. Our discussion about the effects of ice on the airf rame and dealing with icing encounters assumes that flying an airplane that is not authorise for flight into known icing conditions. Only a very few light, single engine airplanes are so approved, while the greatest majority of light planes cannot be flown into icing conditions, either legally or safely (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 314).Accumulations of ice on the airframe do three things, none of which is positive airfoils change shape, weight is added, and drag increases The worst part of airframe ice is the simple fact that all three negatives act in concertyou never get just one or two of them (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 16). When ice accumulates, the airplane needs to carry more weight, with a elongation that has far less lifting power than it will when clean of ice, and the airplanes increased drag must be overcome by a propeller that cannot produce its approach pattern thrust, since it is contaminated with ice too (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p.248). This combination has e ffects that are exponential in the decreased performance of the airplane. Any amount of Ice on the wings, follow surfaces, and propeller changes the shape of the affected surface. This change of shape changes the airfoil and alters its characteristics. Ice never accumulates exactly the same way twice, so when flying an airplane, not approved for known icing conditions, and get into ice with it (Kazda and Caves, 2007 p. 112).When a factory seeks certification of an airplane for flight into known icing, any experiments and analyses are performed that do not through for a lightplane, which is not going to be certified for known icing (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 313). The manufacturer will do, or contract to have done, what is known as an impaction analysis. This means that, through the use of computer models and scientific analysis, engineers will look at the airfoils and determine where water droplets of certain sizes will affect the leading edge. aft(prenominal) the impingem ent analysis is completed, the airplane will be flown in natural icing conditions as a part of its certification trials (Vinson, Rooney, 2006 p. 72). Often, a model of the wing will be put into a wind tunnel that can spray water droplets onto it, and further test the results of the impingement analysis. Moreover, the airplane will be flown behind a tanker that sprays water onto it so the flight test people can see how the replete(p) deicing system works in flight (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 18).None of these steps is taken when certifying an airplane that will not be approved for flight into known icing (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p. 248). Such is the reason for precarious position when getting into ice in a typical light plane, which has never been tested or certified for known icing. Nobody knows what shape the airfoils will take as Ice builds on them. As the accumulation progresses, the shapes of the wing, tail surfaces, and prop are continually changing (Kazda and Caves, 2007 p. 11 4).No one knows the handling qualities, stalling speeds, stall characteristics, reduction of prop thrust, or any of the other performance parameters of what is now a totally new and different airplane (Ashford, Stanton, Moore, 1997 p. 314). Ice adds mass to the entire airframe where it adheres. Mass equals weight therefore, an airplane encountering ice gets heavier as the ice grows. Ice is also very heavy. Water weighs about 64 pounds per cubic foot, and recall that clear ice will be very close to the weight of water (Andersland and Ladanyi, 2004 p. 246). Rime and mixed ice will be a little lighter, but not by much.As the buildup occurs, the drag penalty increases, and again the effects grow at exponential rates. Even small parts of the airplane, like radio receiver antennae, once coated with ice, become producers of large amounts of drag (Vinson, Rooney, 2006 p. 71). Snow and Ice Removal in Ground Areas Occasionally, some will find an airport that will use sand on a runway and o ther paved areas, but sand can wreak havoc when ingested into turbine engines, it can also be picked up by propellers and heavily abrade them With the increasing jet and turboprop fleets, sand is not used much anymore.Most airports do a very good job of plowing snow from the areas where airplanes operate (Eichenberg, 2001 p. 16). However, plowing alone cannot remove all of the snow, and is little help at clearing ice from the paved areas. Even though the modern chemicals do some good, a runway cannot be rid of ice like a road can where salinity is used. Pilots have to expect and deal with ice on the ground.

Social grade Essay Example for Free
Social grade EssayAfter analysing my market research, I have concluded that the social grade of the local area is (B) Lower Management, and the average pay is between 25000 and 35000. The majority of the people do hook locally, the of import reason being that the local shops cater for their needs. This shows that there would be a place for me in this local area beca physical exertion there arent any specialised lucre cafes, aimed at social group B. The majority of people surveyed fit into this group, so it makes sense to primarily aim for them, and then the skilled non-manual workers. planning restrictionsPlanning restrictions are used to restrict where a parentage dissolve build or start up. If the government rejects then it would be against the law for the company to build there. Planning restrictions help to protect beautiful nature from being destroyed. They similarly stop factories from opening uprise homes. Planning restrictions also help bring businesses into ar eas where there is risque unemployment. From research into local planning restrictions, I have found out that I must get permission for any ballads placed by me near my shop, shutters, extra building at the rear of shop and any structural work.I do not need to worry about the replacement of doors and windows, as my business is a non-listed building. Social effects of my shop Social be are the costs that the rest of the area must pay because of where a business or factory is situated. There can also be social benefits which means what is gained by the local area from placing a business there. The social costs as a result of where I place my business are increase in litter and my result in local competition clo veritable down. The social benefits from placing my business are that people shop locally, creates one or two extra jobs and helps the local economy.Evaluation The place that I have elect has more advantages than disadvantages. This is because my shop give be function next to a main road which pull up stakesing allow people to see any promotions, and they will be drawn to the area by a Sainsburys Local. There is also a bus stop a few metres a steering from my shop which will make it low-cal to get to my shop. An other major advantage is that there is a bank nearby that has a cash point meaning it is easy to withdraw cash. There is also a college very near to my internet so there is a good chance students will come and chew out with friends etc.However, the disadvantage is that there are likely to be computers in the college so it would be more likely they would use it rather than paying for the use of a computer and internet. There are some disadvantages primarily, there is no dedicated car park, and there are parking restrictions. The main parking restrictions are that there is no parking on certain points between 6pm and 8pm Monday-Friday. The planning restrictions in the local area are not very strict so this will help if I want to make change s to my, business.There are more benefits than costs, the only ones being litter and closing of competition. The major benefit of me placing my shop in the chosen area is that there would be a good chance of more people coming into the local area that would help other local shops. How will I set the price? The price must be right, as people will have to buy large poesy to make profit. The price you charge depends on what you are trying to do. I am sell pastries, tea, coffee etc as well as providing an internet aid so I will have a low prices in order to attract a lot of customers and to see if my business will succeed.It is unalike for me as I dont sell things (apart from pastries, coffee, tea etc) to make a profit I provide a computer service as my main way of making a profit. My price My price will be as low as possible, so that I can attract the largest amount of customers. I will also have some goods such as pastries, coffee tea etc at is at graduate(prenominal) prices beca use they are unique. I am aiming at social group B. How to price? This is very important, as I must decide how to price the use of the Internet and how to price the food and drinks. Hour establish pricing will be the most suitable way to charge the use of the computer and the Internet.The food and drinks will be charged at high price seeing that the social grade of this local area is group B and most of the local area earn i 25000+ so they will be more likely to spend more money. From my start-off plan, I know my place, my pricing structure and what group I am targeting. After evaluating my first action plan, I have found that I need to cover areas that I missed in my previous plan. . I will be selling food and drink, so each and every product must have a good absolute brand that makes it recognisable to people. A very strong brand is Coke a Cola brand,As the colours, shape of cans, and lettering tell the buyer what the product is. The characteristics of the brand come from the pr oducts physical features of the product. This means the savouring and the shape of the product. The manufacturer through adverts and packaging creates these. What is the aim of announce? The aims of advertising are to in cultivate people about the Internet cafi , create an image, increase sales, grapple with other shops and introduce new products into the market. The aims of my advertising will be to increase sales, compete with other shops and to create an image.Informative advertising Currently, the biggest spender on this form of advertising is the government. This advertising is used to pass on information to the public. The passing on of this information is very important in any advert. Persuasive advertising Their adverts try to persuade the viewer that their products are much better then the competition. Their goal is to attract people to buy their products. There are different types of permeant advertising. They could be adverts that show a famous person using the produc t or adverts that compare one product with another.Public relations Public relations are the department that tries to promote the company and shows the good side of the company to the public. Advertising agencies Advertising is a very expensive business to make sure that the money is well spent they will hire a company to do it right. For an advertising campaign to be successful it must reach the right audience, be attractive and appealing and make the money that the audience cost back in sales. Control over advertising In an advert you careen just put anything in it, there are certain rules.There is a code of practice inside the advertising industry that you must obey. The heap description act, which means that the advert must mean what it, says. I plan to use informative advertising, as I want to inform people of the benefits of acquire from my shop. What types of media are there for advertising? There are many different types of advertising, each has advantages, and disadvanta ges Television This is a very powerful media to use to get your gist across. The advert that is produced will be seen by millions. The time at which your advert is shown effects who see it.If your product is for children then you would show your advert during childrens programmes. You must also take into account the number of people watching, as this will effect the cost. To produce an advert you must take into consideration how many adverts can you afford, as there would be no point in only being able to run your advert once and when will it be shown and is the advert its ego correct? The advantages are that television reaches a large audience throughout the country and the adverts can make the product look much better than in print.The disadvantages are that it is extremely expensive. Radio This method of advertising is very similar as television adverting, but it is cheaper and sound is used instead of visual images. In a radio advert a theme tune is used. The disadvantages are that people may switch station when the advert comes on, if there is poor reception then the listener may miss the advert. The advantages are cheaper than television, large audiences can be reached, this type of advertising is very good for local shops and the advert can be repeated many times.

Cross-Cultural Differences Company X Essay Example for Free
Cross-Cultural Differences troupe X EssayA. Cross-Cultural Differences familiarity X is considering expanding its argument to mainland China. However, prior to moving into a new and foreign market, Company X must understand the various cross cultural resistences that argon relevant to properly conducting subscriber line in China. By being more comminuted to and understanding the cross-cultural protestences, Company Xs transition into the new market should be less challenging and improve its chances of acceptance. Language, domesticate ethic and material culture are three cultural differences that should, first, be understood prior to pursuing opportunities in China. Language is a barrier that go out greatly influence the ability of Company X to conduct business in China. Included in this category is spoken, scripted and body language. If no(prenominal) adequately addressed, spoken language barriers volition solving in miscommunication, the inability to collaborate, and inability to deliver appropriate customer service. Specific to China is that in that location are 1000s of dialects and it is common for residents of China from various parts of the pastoral to however have difficulty understanding their fellow countrymans local dialects. However, the spoken language barrier can be overcome by adopting the use of an spokesperson to to assist in verbal communication and establishing appropriate relationships (Ball et al, 2009).By leveraging local experts who are fluent in mandarin orange tree or Cantonese, depending on where business is to be conducted, will likely result in a competitive advantage for Company X. its important to have a interpreter who also understands Company Xs industry. Furthermore, its important to avoid the use of idioms and jargon specific to the organization. When engaged in a conversation, it is important avoid using the word no. Instead, an acceptable response to a question top executive be, we will take the idea into consideration and get back to you about the item. In the U.S., its common to oppose with and acceptable to respond with the word no when appropriate. However, it could impair business relations when non approached properly.Next, it is imperative to accurately translate written communications in a form that is understandable and appropriate for the specific foreign audience, in this case China, and to ensure meanings are not lost. This might include translating technical manuals, catalogs and advertising ideas into Mandarin or Cantonese. In translating documentation, it will be critical to select words in the from the chosen language that have the same meaning as the position words (Ziganag Fan, 2004). Employing qualified translators who can accurately convert English text to the required language will allow Company X to overcome the written language challengesIts important to understand and be aware of body language while conducting business in China (Ball et al, 2009). . For ex ample, when entering a room, the host will usually direct a guest to sit. Otherwise, it would be considered rude to sit prior to being directed by the host. In the the U.S. This may not be seen as an issue. However, it is one of the cultural differences to be aware of. Another example is with personal space. In the U.S., for example, its common to maintain an arms lengths distance from others. Approaching walk-to(prenominal) is considered inappropriate and can make some feel uncomfortable. In China, on the other hand, it is common for others to be in what Americans might consider their personal space. No offense is meant by the action. This is just another cultural challenge to be aware of as Company X pursues business in China.Work value-system and business relationships are further cross cultural differences that need to be carefully approached. In the Chinese business culture, personal relationships directly influence work ethic and business relationships. According to one expe rt, China is a relational-oriented country in which people mystify great importance on personal relationship. Chinese managers may initially focus more effort on building social and interpersonal relations before entering into business or contractual relationship (Ziganag Fan, 2004). For example, employee loyalty can be described and improved by reciprocating favors. Developing business relationships are expected to take more time in the Chinese culture as opposed to how they are genuine in the united States. In the U.S., businesses and clients typically meet in a formal move and focus on the business requirements and solutions whereas, in China, first, second and even third meetings might be in informal settings where business is not expected to even be discussed.The legal system is another issue to be considered when doing business in China because it is still viewed as being in a growing stage. Contracts, for example, are highly influenced by this difference. In the Chinese culture, contracts describe how relationships will be developed whereas in the United States, the contract is a binding transcription that spells out the specific terms, conditions and expectations from each party involved. As Company X pursues the possibility of expanding business to China, it must understand that the Chinese business culture does not place as much emphasis on the binding force of a written contract.B. Compare U.S. business practices to practices in your proposed country for each of the by-line Product, Price, Promotion and Place The marketing mix should be taken into consideration as Company X considers expansion int the China market. It is important to recognize that strategies that are effective in the United States will not inevitably be effective in China. Therefore, the components of the marketing mix (products, price, promotion and place) strategies might require adjustments to puzzle attractive to the Chinese market.Often times, the total product must b e modified to accommodate the needs and appeal of a specific market. This does not necessarily mean that the manufacturing or production process is modified. The total product consists of the brand, accessories, services, warranty, instructions, image and packaging (Ball et al, 2009). For example, if Company X decides to sell certain circuit boards in China, it might be more beneficial to modify the package and instructions that are written in English for the U.S. Market and translate into Mandarin or Cantonese for the Chinese market. Another example is in the frozen food industry. If Company X is distributing frozen meats, like chicken and beef, to grocery retailers in the U.S. and wants to expand into the Chinese market, the caller-out might encounter infrastructure challenges because many rural and undeveloped areas of China may not be equipped with freezers. Its more common to find refreshful or live chickens in markets so Company X may want to consider modifying its product s trategy from distributing frozen food in China to fresh distribution as an alternative.Pricing also needs to be addressed because purchasing power in the foreign currency may differ from the U.S. dollar. Prices need to be adjusted to consider the cost of living in China. For example, if a widget in the U.S. is costs ten dollars, the price might be equivalent to forty dollars in local Chinese currency (Ball et al, 2009). Consumer wages are lower in much of China making purchasing a more expensive item out of reach for many potential consumers. Additional factors include price increases due to taxes and tariffs.Promotion includes methods for effectively communicating a message, such as through advertising, to achieve a desired perception. Forms of advertising include radio, television, billboards, internet and brochures. The messaging delivered in the U.S. Market will likely differ form how the product is presented in China. In the U.S., advertisements for a circumstance product may focus on cost savings and product quality benefits, whereas in China, advertisements typically project how the product will improve ones quality of life. In the U.S., there are are variety ofAnother important consideration is place or distribution. In other words, how will Company X get the product to customers in China? Place takes into consideration factors like distribution partners, geography, change routes and climate (Ball et al, 2009). Distribution in the U.S. is highly developed an easy to access. By utilizing domestic shipping companies, product can be in the hands of a customer overnight or within hours, for that matter. If Company X leverages retail distributors like supermarkets, consumers can get their products even quicker. The United States has a highly developed infrastructure system of roads bridges and seaports that enable product to easily move to every city in the country.On the other hand, there will be challenges to doing business in China. These includes regi ons of markets that are landlocked, where there is no seaport access with less developed roads resulting in slower movement of product. When conducting business in China, it is common practice to develop partnership with foreign distributors who are familiar with the regional and local cultures, industry and business climate. Most importantly, prior to ingress business in China, it will require a series of meetings to get to know partners, their understanding of the markets and their success.C. Ethical Issues Its important to understand that certain common practices in one country may be prohibited and illegal in another country. Two distinct ethical issues that will influence proceeding with conducting business in China is the political environment and practice of vest giving. First, in the United States it is a common practice for large industries or businesses to engage in politics and attempt to influence laws through lobbying. Companies might even go as far as publicly critic izing the U.S. Governments position on a particular issue. This is legal and often commonplace in the United States. On the other hand, in China, it is unlawful for businesses to speak out against or criticize government policy so the business must be cautious to comply with policy and not voice dissent. Secondly, gift giving is no longer encouraged in the U.S., and furthermore, in some cases may be construed as bribery which is illegal. Some businesses even limit the value of gift that employees can accept from vendors.Even in within the federal government, employees are prohibited from accepting meal offers from suppliers that exceeds twenty five dollars. An equity trader who offers an executive at a firm, a gift in the form of a large sum of money in return for specific inside information, would be considered bribery and is completely illegal in the United States. In China, however, it is common practice and expected to give gifts to potential business clients. The act is a welc omed practice that takes place at all levels of business. Obviously, there are limits that might cross into unlawful practices, specifically when offering high valued gifts to government officials.

Leadership And The Delegation In Nursing Nursing Essay
Leadership And The Delegation In Nursing Nursing EssayFlorence nightingale once said, But then again, to look to totally these things yourself does non mean to do them yourselfBut fag you insure that it is done when not done by yourself. (p. 17). These words, written in her Notes on Nursing, spoke of the idea of delegation in nurse. Over the years, delegation has become increasingly burning(prenominal) in the nursing profession. It is measurable for a nurse to understand how to delegate to others efficiently without compromising patient safety or facing a lawsuit. This can sometimes prove to be a harder proletariat than one might think, especially for a new graduate who has no experience with delegation. However, there are certain guidelines set in place that, if followed, will enable you to delegate problems safely, properly, and effectively.Delegation is defined as the transference of responsibility and authority for an activity to a competent various(prenominal) (Berman Snyder, 2012). When assign a task to another individual, there are five even outs of delegation that must be get winded. The five estimables of delegation include the remedy task, the right circumstance, the right person, the right communication and the right supervision (Tomey, 2009). The introductory right, the right task, takes into consideration whether it is inside a persons scope of put on to perform the task being delegated.A specific task that can be delegated to one person may not be appropriate for another person, depending on each persons experience and individual skill sets. Also, a task that is appropriate for one person to perform with one client may not be appropriate with a contrary client or the same client under altered circumstances. (Berman Snyder, 2012)A lot of times, a list of tasks that can and cannot be delegated can be pitch in the nurse practice act for the state of practice. In addition to considering if a task is within a persons scope of pract ice, the nature and complexity of the task to be delegated should also be considered. Only activities that have a predictable outcome and are done the same way e very(prenominal) time should be delegated (Sheehan, 1998). For example, it is okay to delegate a task such as taking a kind force per unit area or measuring urine output. Tasks that are much complicated or could hurt a patient, such as changing a patients surgical dressing, should not be delegated.The right circumstance is the second right of delegation. Even if a person has the ability and is allowed to perform a certain task, it is all-important(prenominal) to consider the circumstances before delegating. For example, ambulating a patient is a task that can normally be delegated to a nursing assistant. However, if you consider a patient who is post-op for a hip replacement and has a history of hypotension and anemia, this task would not be appropriate to delegate to a nursing assistant or any other person who does not have the necessary training to be what to do if the person were to become unstable.Generally, appropriate activities for consideration in delegation decision making include those which frequently reoccur in the daily care of a client or group of clients, which do not require the UAP to exercise nursing judgment, do not require complex and/or multi-dimensional application of the nursing process, for which the results are predictable and the potential risk is minimal, and which utilize a standard and unchanging procedure. (National Council of State Board Nursing, 1997)The triplet right of delegation is the right person. It is important to consider who the best person would be to handle a given situation. This means taking into consideration whether or not a person has the knowledge, skill, and efficacy to perform the task. Also, it should be considered whether or not the person has performed the task in the past and if not, if they need supervision in performing the task. The RN m ust consider qualifications, job descriptions, and competency when delegating task to various caregivers. Qualifications are generally determined by state licensure or certification, and the RN may reference infirmary policies and procedures, job descriptions, published state practice acts, or unit guidelines if unfamiliar with specific qualifications. For instance, an LVN/LPN may be permitted by license to draw blood in some states. In other states the LVN/LPN must have an additional certification to draw blood. (Osborn, 2010)The fourth right of delegation is the right communication. It is very important when delegating a task to another person to perplex sure and communicate what is needed. This means not only telling the person what to do, only when giving all information that will be needed in order to perform the task. For example, when assigning the task of taking a patients blood pressure to someone, it is important to include when they need to be taken, as well as restrict ions that may be needed such as to only use the left hand arm. In addition, specific instructions need to be given about when information should be inform back to you and any information that should be reported back immediately. For instance, if you assign the task of taking a patients blood sugar to a nursing assistant, it is important to make sure that he or she knows what a normal reading and that any readings that are not in the expected range should be reported immediately. It is also important to make sure that all instructions are understood by the person you assigning the task to and if any supervision may be needed.The fifth right of delegation is the right supervision. It is very important that any time you delegate a task, you make sure that it has been done correctly and completely. At times, a task that is delegated will be completed under direct supervision. For example, when teaching a student to insert a foley catheter, you will be with them during the task guiding them through the process. It is not of all time possible to be present to directly finagle all tasks that you have delegated, even though you are still ultimately accountable. It is critically important to make sure and oversee the progress on the tasks that you have delegated to ensure they are properly executed,The Board of Nursing has the legal responsibility to regulate nursing practice and provide guidance regarding delegation of nursing tasks. The licensed nurses specialized education, professional judgment and discretion are essential for quality nursing care. Nurses are unequivocally qualified for promoting the health of the whole person by virtue of their education and experience. Nursing is a knowledge- base process discipline and cannot be reduced solely to a list of tasks. Therefore, the nurse must coordinate and supervise the delivery of nursing care, including the delegation of nursing tasks to others. While some nursing tasks may be delegated to unaccredited assist ive personnel (UAP), the practice-pervasive functions of assessment, evaluation and nursing judgment must not be delegated. All decisions related to delegation of nursing tasks must be based on the fundamental doctrine of protection of the health, safety and welfare of the public. The issues surrounding delegation are complex and multi-faceted. It is the responsibility of the licensed nurse to determine which tasks can be appropriately delegated and accept accountability for the outcomes. Assigning unqualified persons to perform nursing care functions, task or responsibilities and or failing to effectively supervise persons to whom nursing functions are delegated or assigned constitutes misconduct. (South Carolina Board of Nursing, 2010)In order to be able to delegate efficiently and effectively, it is important to consider the four principles of delegation. The first is the principle of result excepted, which suggests that before delegating a task to someone, you should be able to clearly define the goals and results that are expected of them. In other words, as a nurse, you should be able to perform the skill that you are delegating to another person and be able to teach about it if necessary. The second principle is the principle of parity of authority and responsibility , which says that when delegating a task, you should choose a person who is capable of doing the job on their own and not sham excessive authority. The nurse should know the regulations in the state of practice regarding which tasks can be delegated to another person and those which should be done by only an RN. The third principle is the principle of absolute responsibility. This principle says that when delegating care to another person, the RN should be aware that he/she is the one who is ultimately responsible. It is very important to supervise tasks which have been delegated in order to ensure the safety of all patients and of her own license. The fourth principle is the principle of authority, which suggests that you should only delegate tasks that are within your jurisdiction. If you are ever in doubt about an important decision, you should consult someone in a higher position about the issue. Also, you should understand which tasks you are allowed to delegate and which tasks that only you should be performing. You should also consider that there are some situations that do not require tasksto be delegated in order to be performed. For example, in assisted living facilities, care is provided to patients without having to have delegated by an RN. (Management Study Guide, n.d.).It is very important as a nurse to consider all aspects that go into delegating tasks to others. When all the guidelines are followed correctly a good judgement is used when choosing who to delegate a task to, delegation can be a great tool that nurses can use. Your floor will run smoothly and you will be able to more efficiently care for your patients. It is of utmost enormousness that we as health care providers put the care and needs of the patients first when making decisions that could affect their treatment and ultimately their lives.

Conflict :: essays research papers
Jack Londons To Build a Fire and John Updikes A&P were very different, but provoke stories. Both authors chose a different approach to their chosen t unmatched. Updike wrote in a more laid back and entertaining way, while London, on the other hand, chose to print in a more formal and serious way. The authors also developed much different characters. Londons main character was much h cardinalst-to-goodness and rugged than the complicated teenage girls and grocery clerk that Updike chose to focus his story around. The most significant difference, however, is the choice of conflict. Updikes conflict was a simple nonpareil focusing on man versus man, but Londons story had many conflicts that dealt with much more serious issues like, for example, life and death.From the generator of both stories one can get an immediate sense of where each story is headed. The authors very appropriately set the tone to each of their stories early on. The rootage sentence in Londons To Build a Fire said, Day had broken cold and gray, exceedingly cold and gray, when the man turned apart from the main Yukon trail and climbed the high earth-bank, where a dim and little- traveled trail led eastward through the fat spruce timberland (561). From that very early sentence the audience can immediately tell that this is going to be a dramatic story. The strong and descriptive language prepares us for the rest of the story. The beginning of Updikes A&P sets a much different tone for the story to follow. He wrote, In walks these three girls in nothing but dishwashing suits. Im in the third checkout slot, with my back to the door, so I dont see them until theyre over by the bread. The one that caught my eye first was the one in the plaid green two-piece (612). The beginning of this story has a relaxed and enjoyable tone. We, the audience, are now prepared for more or less easy reading. Next, focusing on the characters, we see another big difference. Londons story had very few character s. London took his time and very descriptively developed his main character throughout the entire story. The story is periodically filled with bits about how the unnamed man feels and what hes thinking. London gainful very close attention to how his main character physically felt. For example, he wrote, After a time he was aware of the first faraway common sense in his beaten fingers.

Presidential Campaign of 2004 :: essays research papers
Each presidential election overview has always been similar to a three-ringcircus, but in the 2000 Election with Al Gore and George W. Bush, was by far oneof the biggest circuses ever. Democrats had reason to worry about the election.Republicans held the White House for three consecutive terms from 1980 to 1992,voters frequently grow tired of one party after two terms. They were hoping to wincontrol, yet there was a lot at stake with the election at the time. And eventhough it came to be a quite chaotic election, it was by far the closestelection ever in history. The main problem was that the results were so close inFlorida that it became indefinite who the winner was. It took over a month tofinally attain the results. Ultimately it was non the citizens whose votescounted, but the vote of the Supreme tap for the election case.     Al Gore had a good start to begin with, having high marks on his ability tohandle key issues, including Democratic stands on such a s health care, educationand Social Security. But Gore changed all that on the last day of the DemocratsLos Angeles national convention. Whether it was the highly publicized touch hegave his wife or not, Gore changed the publics view of him. No longer was he ajust a stiff politician. Instead, he was a passionate, amiable father and husbandwho lacked many of Clintons weaknesses. And Gore jumped a few points ahead ofBush. The Monica Lewinsky scandal Clinton had did not necessarily give him a badreputation. On the contrary, citizenry continued to cast their support for thepresident since the public thought he had done so much for our nation. Yet inthe 2000 Election Gore seemed to go in the completely opposite direction ofClinton, or at least try to avoid his name in his speeches at first.     Yet Gores luck did not change when he left California. Bush seemed to havedifficulties when asked about his tax cut plan and about his statement that theU.S. military was not fully ready. epoch Gore looked relaxed and energetic, Bushmade mistakes in front of the camera. Polls suggested that Gore was far ahead ofBush by at least a few points. Republicans became much less optimistic aboutBush, while things were looking very promising for the Democrats.     Gores campaign was focused on issues that were mostly pertain by women, suchas health care and education.
